Street Style: New Kids on the Block
Article by Nicole Berrie

Card-carrying members of the street style set know how to pack a sartorial punch during fashion season and this past month was no different. From the Big Apple to the City of Lights, shutterbug darlings took their accessories game to the next level test driving some of Fall 2013 runway trends and trailblazing a few of their own. What stood out? Solitary statement pieces à la Gaia Repossi’s ear cuff and stylist Danielle Nachmani’s Art Deco-inspired Lulu Frost collar. Translation: less is more. Take a cue from The Kooples’ Anne-Catherine Frey, stylist Elisa Nalin and’s Tamu McPherson who updated borrowed-from-the-boys sweatshirts and vintage tees with striking showpiece necklaces. Meanwhile in Milan, well-heeled editrix including Anna Dello Russo paid homage to Bulgari by donning the venerable maison’s latest “It” bauble, the Serpenti watch. In Paris, aristo-chic was the name of the game where Buro 24/7’s Miroslava Duma and designer Ulyana Sergeenko donned dainty drop earrings and ladylike brooches evoking the decadence of a bygone era. (No surprise that it’s the Russian dolls bringing Baroque back.) Injecting a dose of whimsy into the trend, consultant Shala Monroque revived her signature Delfina Delettrez beetle pin, proving that when it comes to fashion, even the macabre is fair game.
